This one is The Scarecrow, also painted on bit of old waterlogged cupboard. I like the colours in this one. I wanted to glue down bits of burlap or something for the mask but i couldn't find any, still turned out ok i guess. Giant sized hugs must go to both Shana Dennis and Nici from Blackbird Corner for being such active supporters of my show on the facebooks and the twitters etc. This is also the last week to see these in the flesh, so get in quickly if you want to see them, I'm taking them down off the walls this weekend to make way for the Are You Kitten Me? group show. I was too lazy to price these individually, (perhaps to avoid the shame of not selling any?), but I'd certainly entertain selling the entire series of 21 paintings for a lump sum to any interested and rich batman art collectors email me!

Back when all of Newcastle flooded really bad a few years ago, there was this old cupboard downstairs that was completely ruined from all of the water, so I smashed it up into bits with a hammer and saved all the shelves to use as painting surfaces. This one sat in my studio for a really long time and then one day i painted Batman villain Roman Sionis AKA The Black Mask on it for an exhibition called It's Only Madness.. at ARThive. Then Nicholas Pitt took a photo of it for me and I put it on here.

Here is Jervis Tetch AKA The Mad Hatter from Batman. Even if you don't like Batman, maybe you like Alice In Wonderland? Lots of crossover potential with this one i suppose. Some Batman fan commented that this wasn't quite creepy paedo sex perv enough, but gee how creepy paedo sex perv do you need to go? Can't please everybody all of the time.

Here's my painting of Ra's Al Ghul AKA The Demon's Head AKA Liam Neeson from the It's Only Madness exhibition. Ideally i would have spent a some more time on this one but my self imposed deadline was totally approaching and this one is really really big, like bigger than I should really ever try to paint. I'm used to drawing tiny little doodles in pocket sketchbooks, but I had this big dumb scrappy old mouldy 3rd or 4th generation canvas sitting in my studio full of spiders and taking up valuable space instead of having a Batman villain on it.

So I somehow managed to get 21 paintings of Batman villains finished for my It's Only Madness.. exhibition at ARThive this month. The opening afternoon was a relaxed afternoon with friends, lollies, and cokes, and Eddie Botha came dressed as Batman! Radical. Anyway, here's the first painting I finished in the series, Mister Freeze! I'm going to try and post a new one of these every day until i run out, at which point I should hopefully have some more new stuff to show you, so keep checking back! SUBSCRIBE i guess, or if you get a chance, do pop into the gallery upstairs at 111 Hunter st Newcastle, these will still be on show for another week or so and then into the vault they go.
